Clinical efficacy and side effects of diflorasone diacetate (Diacort; DDA) ointment were evaluated in comparison with diflucortolone 21-valerate (Nerisona; DFV) ointment in 8 cases of psoriasis vulgaris, 6 cases of lichenified eczema/dermatitis and one case of prurigo. In 8 cases of psoriasis vulgaris, DDA ointment was more effective in 4 cases, DFV ointment was more effective in 2 cases, and the two drugs were equally effective in 2 cases. In 6 cases of lichenified eczema/dermatitis, DDA ointment was more effective in 3 cases, DFV ointment was more effective in 2 cases, and the two drugs were equally effective in onecase. The case of prurigo responded better to DDA ointment. The only side effect found was folliculitis in one case treated with DFV ointment. The results suggest that DDA ointmentis a very useful agent which is as effective as or more effective than DFV ointment and relatively low in the incidence of side effects.
