抄録

Rapidly advancing medical technologies including areas of new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities based on information technology (IT), gene treatment and regenerative medicine, will blossom forth early this century. Once a new technology becomes an everyday one, it is soon dated. We should prepare solid fundamentals which will enable timely response to current medical needs and will shed light on the future direction. While symposium speakers presented respective perspectives of their future, we concurred in the necessity of tight collaboration between National Center and National hospitals for 1) the formation of clinical database and standardization for improving quality of medicine and 2) taking initiative for welfare of patients in the rapidly changing medical society of Japan.
