The electrochemical behavior of bis (hexafluoroacetylacetonato) nickel(II) was studied in 0.05 mol·dm-3 TBAP-DMSO or 0.1 mol·dm-3 TBAP-DMSO by differential pulse polarography and cyclic voltammetry. In the previous paper, it has been reported on the basis of the conductance data that [Ni(hfac)2] in DMSO is involved in the chemical equilibrium (1).<BR>[Ni(hfac)2] ←→ Ni(hfac)+ + hfac- (1)<BR>The dissociation of [Ni(hfac)2] in the bulk of the solution was also supported by cryoscopy in this paper. The following electrode reaction mechanism was presumed :<BR>[Ni(hfac)2] + 2e → Ni(hfac)22- (2)<BR>Ni(hfac)+ + 2e → Ni(hfac)- (3)<BR>Ni(hfac)22- → Ni(hfac)- + hfac- (4)<BR>Ni(hfac)- → Ni0 + hfac- (5)<BR>where k1 and k2 denote the rate constants of the dissociation reactions (4) and (5), respectively.
