MO parameters were analyzed in order to predict the reactivity of color couplers for photographic materials. Four kinds of MO parameters for 1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone coupler anions were calculated using AM1/COSMO method. The charge, HOMO energy and absolute hardness showed low correlation coefficients between the reactivity (log kl). The correlation between local electron-donating strength and log ki was good. A similar relationships were found for naphthol couplers.
