抄録

A rare case of carcinoid tumor in the sphenoid sinus of a 65-year-old woman is reported. The clinical diagnosis was sphenoidal mucocele, but the second biopsy specimen revealed a probable diagnosis of pituitary adenoma.<BR>Final diagnosis was performed by electron microscopy, using a surgical specimen. Grimelius stain (argyrophil) was positive and the ultrastructure demonstrated neuroendocrine granules in the cytoplasm.<BR>The patient was treated with postoprative radiotherapy, and there has been no recurrence or distant metastasis of the tumor.
