 The failure modes of a steel-concrete composite bridge deck is positively depending on shear connector profiles. I-shape steel and flat plate are examined as ribs of the composite deck. In the static experiments, three different failure mode are obse rved; separation into two layers, double shear failure, punching shear failure. The separation into two layers and double shear failure are caused by cracks that occur from the tip of ribs. This is also confirmed by FE analysis with the proposed interface model, which considers both initial bond and friction. Based on this experimental and analytical study, the failure modes and static capacity are explained with the ratio of rib spacing and effective depth of decks.
