抄録

A 60-year-old male patient developed purpura in the bilateral lower limbs and renal dysfunction during the treatment of a peritonsillar abscess. We consulted the dermatologist and nephrologists. They suspected anaphylactoid purpura and purpura nephritis because of the progress of the disease and the pathologic findings of skin biopsy. Steroid therapy was useful to control the appearance of the purpura, and angiotensin-­converting enzyme inhibitor and antiplatelet therapy had an effect on the decrease of urinary protein.<br/>Cases of anaphylactoid purpura are rare in the elderly. Arthritis and abdominal symptoms are less serious and frequent, but renal dysfunction and recurrence of purpura are more serious and frequent in comparison to younger patients. We consider that it is important to treat anaphylactoid purpura with cooperation between dermatologists and nephrologists.
