Abstract
During a construction process, it is essential to reduce the oscillation of work vessels for not only the accuracy of the work but also the safety of workers. Of oscillation reduction methods for mooring vessels, this study focused on a bilge keel, which is usually expected to reduce the rolling of passenger ships. From numerical experiments, it was clarified that a bilge keel can reduce the rolling of work vessels. However, it was pointed out that the bilge keel can also increase the horizontal displacement of the work vessels. Furthermore, field surveys were carried out to measure the rolling and pitching of a mooring vessel before and after a bilge keel was attached on the vessel. From observation data, it was verified that the bilge keel is effective to reduce the rolling and pitching.
