Abstract

A 62-year-old female patient was admitted to our hospital because of right upper-quadrant pain. Blood analysis showed inflammatory reaction and increases in hepatic and biliary enzyme levels. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a double gallbladder and gallstones. Abdominal contrast enhanced CT scan also revealed a double gallbladder and stones in one lobe of the double gallbladder. Drip infusion cholangiography with CT (DIC-CT) revealed Boyden's classification H type, Gross's classification B type double gallbladder with gallstones in one lobe of the double gallbladder. We performed laparoscopic cholecystectomy with the diagnosis of cholecystitis arisen in double gallbladder.<BR>Double gallbladder is a rare abnormality, but it is possible to perform a relatively safe laparoscopic cholecystectomy if preoperatively diagnosed. In order to prevent bile duct injuries, it is important to evaluate the anatomy of the biliary tree in detail with preoperative imaging examinations.
