Abstract
Recently, night vision system has been developed to support safety driving during night time. HUD (Head Up Display) is being used for displaying image taken by near or far infrared camera. In this study, we measured the timing of road sign discovery with and without the night vision system with HUD. Various sizes of HUD image were examined. Results showed that displaying near-infrared image using HUD significantly quickers the timing of road sign discovery compared with the condition without HUD. Visual angle of 8 degree horizontally showed the best performance in subjective evaluation of the visibility of HUD.
