Abstract

In recent years, the containerless processing using levitation methods has attracted attention. It is possible to avoid issues caused by a container wall and to generate high-quality substances. For this reason, the containerless processing is expected to be put into practical use in various fields including biotechnology, analytical chemistry and pharmaceutical science. In this study, we use acoustic levitation methods. It is known that there are nonlinear phenomena such as interficial deformation and complex flow in and around the droplets caused by acoustic fields for acoustically levitated droplet. These phenomena and phase change behavior were closely related. Therefore, it is indispensable to elucidate the interaction between the flow structure and the phase change behavior of the acoustically levitated droplets. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to elucidate the interaction between the external flow structure and the phase change of the droplet. We carried out external flow measurement and density field measurements around droplets on six types of droplets with different saturated vapor pressure.
