抄録

<p>　This research is focused on clarifying the acknowledgement of children's sensitivity to nature.We selected Fiji and Okinawa in Japan, since they are surrounded by the ocean, though there is a big difference in the spread of information. The research was conducted by showing pictures or playing sounds related to nature to children in Fiji and Okinawa in Japan. Participants were 13 children of 3 years old, 13 children of 4 years old in Fiji and 6 children of 4 or 5 years old at a non-approved childcare and 2 children of 1st to 3rd grade in elementary school in Okinawa. Both Fijian and Okinawan children reacted very well to the many varieties of the ocean that is very familiar to them. Some children even talked about an episode linked to their experiences. On the other hand, their reaction to the mountain is poor both in quality and quantity. They could only express their thoughts of the pictures in a few words.</p><p></p>
