- Study on Anisotropic Hyperelastic Model for Natural Leather Considering the Dispersion of Fiber Orientation Angles

<p>In this paper, an anisotropic hyperelastic model for fiber-reinforced materials considering fiber dispersion was investigated. Fiber-reinforced materials such as skin, leather and muscles, show non-linear elastic characteristics, and they depend on the tensile direction and dispersion of the reinforcing fibers. In this research, the fiber-reinforced structural model introduced by Holzapfel & Gasser (2005) (1) was applied to numerical modelling. Fiber-reinforced elastomers are thought to have two families of reinforcing fibers in the body. In particular, the proposed anisotropic hyperelastic model was developed to apply to the anisotropic stress-strain relationships in the small-strain region. To investigate non-linear elastic characteristics and anisotropic mechanical responses of the proposed model, numerical analyses were conducted. From the results of numerical analyses, non-linear and anisotropic mechanical properties were shown.</p>
