<p>Playing sports occupies an important place in the life of elementary school children, and community sports, mainly conducted by volunteers, plays a significant role in this respect. Parents’ involvement, such as by taking turns in performing club duties, attending club activities with their children, and securing training grounds, among others, is indispensable for running community sports clubs. Through such activities, parents get involved in different interpersonal relationships with coaches, players, other parents, and their children. This study investigated the style of sport parenting of elementary school children playing community sports, which have not been much investigated to date. First, characteristics of parents with children who are athletes were examined. Next, positive and negative aspects of relationships between parents and coaches, as well as among parents were discussed. Excessive interference in relationships between parents and children were also discussed, by using the concepts of identification and narcissism. Finally, desirable attitudes for parents involved in children’s sports activities were discussed. It is suggested that there is a need to better understand the situation related to community sports activities, to cooperate with coaches, to clarify role-sharing among parents, and for parents to keep an appropriate distance from their children. Furthermore, the development of a psycho-educational program for parents was discussed.</p>
