<p>In this study, the effects of dimple shape on lubrication characteristics of parallel thrust bearings were investigated. Circular shape and two types of fan shapes were considered as test dimples, and the film thickness and friction torque were measured. The results showed that the circular shape was the most effective in raising film thickness. The film thickness of the circular shape was about twice as large as that of the fan-shape. In addition, the validity of the test results was proved by comparing with the results of the previous study in which these dimpled bearings were tested under constant film thickness conditions.</p>
