A transactional agent is a mobile agent to manipulate objects distributed on computers with some commitment condition. In this paper, we present a computation model of transactional agent and discuss how to implement a transactional agent to manipulate objects on multiple database servers. In order to reduce the communication overhead to transfer a transactional agent from a computer to another computer in networks, a transactional agent is decomposed into pair of routing and manipulation subagents. We evaluate the transactional agent model in terms of access time compared with the traditional client-server model.
