Bubble Growth by Diffusion in an 11-kHz Sound Field

<jats:p>Bubble growth by rectified diffusion of gas was measured for single bubbles in an 11-kHz underwater sound field. Observed results are compared to calculated results for assumed isothermal or adiabatic pulsations of the bubbles. The calculated threshold for growth is consistent with observations, but the calculated times of growth exceed the observed times by factors of about 10–100.</jats:p>
