<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>For patients requiring peripheral vascular surgery, coronary artery disease is the major determinant of perioperative mortality and long-term survival. The management of coronary artery disease in these patients is controversial as no randomized blinded prospective studies have been conducted. Data on the prevalence, diagnosis and management are reviewed.</jats:p>
