抄録

The resident population of the Oriental Greenfinch Carduelis sinica on the Ogasawara Islands is an endemic subspecies C. s. kittlitzi. But bird-watchers have reported only a small number of individuals for past few decades (max.=20) and the population is thought to be threatened with extinction. We observed a relatively large number of individuals feeding at two sites in Hyogidaira, Hahajima, the Ogasawara Islands, in May-June 1990. The maximum numbers of observed individuals were 102 and 86, respectively. We estimated that the total number of individuals which used the sites as the feeding place was about 140 and 37.8% of them were young.
