抄録

Lingual osseous choristoma is a rare lesion. We report a case of lingual osseous choristoma on the radix of tongue, with a review of the literature.<br>The patient was a 37-year-old female. She had no symptom and accidentally found the lesion herself. The lesion was a hard pedunculated mass measuring about 8 mm. The mass was excised under general anesthesia. Histopathological examination revealed the mass to be composed of dense lamellar bone surrounded by thin fibrous tissue. The pathological diagnosis was osseous choristoma. She remained free of recurrence in the excised area of the tongue for about 19 months.<br>We analyzed this case along with 61 similar cases reported in the literature. The most common anatomic location is the posterior third of the tongue close to the foramen caecum.
