抄録

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the quality of support provided by public health nurses (PHNs) to people with schizophrenia from the patients' perspective.Methods: Using qualitative research design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews. In total, five people with schizophrenia who had received support from PHNs were enrolled in the study.Results: Responses from patients with schizophrenia were classified into five categories: “advice regarding living arrangements;" “listening and monitoring;" “support by forming familiar relationships with people;" “help in maintaining family relationships;" and “adjusting care."Conclusion: These findings suggest that the patients understood the support provided by PHNs as not only “advice regarding living arrangements;" but also “positive feedback;" and “support by forming a familiar relationships with people." Therefore, people can feel that they are not alone, and be provided with a source of human contact. PHNs need position-based living support thinking and communication skills for fiduciary relation.
