抄録

In the present study, we investigated a historical development of Hasegawa's Dementia Scale (HDS). It has been recognized the scale was the most popular psychological one for finding dementia for elder persons in Japan as well as in East Asian countries. There have been revisions of the scale three times so far. The scale has been developed by good collaboration of psychiatrists and clinical psychologists. It seems that each revision of the scale reflects Japanese society of the period in question, especially in terms of rapid increase of the elder population and dementia patients.
