抄録

Artificial snow crystals have been produced by a simple method in a thermos containing a freezing mixture of salt and crushed ice.Charged dandelion hairs were put in a small plastic vessel so that the hairs extend in a vertical plane, and the vessel was placed on a freezing mixture in the thermos.Several minutes later, artificial snow crystals appeared with good symmetry.Water vapor was supplied by diffusion from slightly wetted paper placed at the top of the thermos.It is believed that dandelion hair is a desirable substrate because of its thinness and the many thorns on it.
