内容説明

There can be few scientists using the techniques of microiontophoresis who have not been dismayed at some time by inexplicably unusable electrodes, variable responses to a given compound or sudden changes of firing rate which ruin an otherwise unblemished recording. Arguably the micron-sized microiontophoretic electrode tip allows us to create the nearest thing we have to an artificial synapse. Microiontophoresis is a powerful tool, fascinating and flexible, but the more widespread its use becomes, and with it the relevant literature, the more difficult it becomes for people wishing to use the technique anew to trace those snippets of information, buried in methods, results or even discussion sections of papers, which make the difference between success and failure, jubilation and frustation. It is the purpose of this book to try and draw together a few of those details and to provide an introductory guide to the literature on microiontophoresis and the related micropressure methodologies.
