内容説明
This volume describes present day sedimentary environments and discusses the recognition of ancient analogues. It emphasizes processes and their products, the use of facies, facies associations and sequences in interpretation of ancient rocks, and how environmental recognition illuminates our understanding of past climates, oceanography, biological evolution and tectonics. Particular emphasis is placed on line drawings to illustrate relationships of sedimentary environments to processes and facies. It has been designed for final year undergraduates, postgraduates and professional geologists, especially those working on industrial problems. The second edition follows the same general plan as the first, but each chapter has been reorganized and rewritten to incorporate advances in knowledge and understanding since 1978.
目次
- Facies
- alluvial sediments
- lakes
- deserts
- deltas
- siliciclastic shorelines
