内容説明

The book provides balanced information on the biology, chemistry and physics of membrane properties and their specific functions in the flow of material, transduction of energy and transformation of signals. Up-to-date specific data on these various properties and functions are contained in the book, thus making it a reference text on such subjects as membrane composition, membrane structure, all known systems of transport, all different mechanisms of energy transduction and on selected types of signal transformation. It is supplemented by general theoretical sections on diffusion, electrodiffusion, linear and nonlinear transport, equilibrium and steady-state thermodynamics, and redoc reactions, accompanied by numerical examples wherever possible.

目次

  • The Membrane Principle of Cell Organisation
  • Membrane Structure
  • Membranes as Mediators of Flow of Matter
  • Membranes as Convertors of Energy
  • Processing of Information in Membranes.
