内容説明

A monograph on Joan Mitchell's career and oeuvre , exploring the artists iconography and technique, studying particularly her continuing interest in such subjects as poetry, water, sunflowers and her pet dogs. The artist began exhibiting with the Abstract Expressionists in the early 1950's and has remained a New York School painter, despite the fact that she has lived in France for the past 30 years. The author contends that although Joan Mitchell is an uncompromising abstractionist she nevertheless manages to convey her deep feelings about nature and landscape in her art.
