This biography makes use of her previously unpublished diaries, and those of her friend and lover, Valentine Ackland. It covers her early life as a musicologist and composer, her years as an active member of the Communist Party, her literary successes and her relationship with Valentine Ackland. Claire Harman edited "Collected Poems of Sylvia Townsend Warner" and "Selected Poems".
