内容説明
The present volume fills a gap in the literature of comparative education by depicting globally the status of a very amorphous field of pure and applied science, a field which now embraces the globe. Although comparative education was originally grounded in history and philosophy, since the 1960s it has broadened its base and established links with many other disciplines, and this volume represents this extended global and academic dimension. The writers of each regional chapter have all been drawn from the areas concerned, or have extensive experience of them. The first of the three main sections in this collective volume examines the origins and development of comparative education, and then discusses current issues and trends within the field. The second section sets out the world perspective, covering the state of comparative education in Western Europe, North America, socialist European countries, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Arab states. The final section examines the national and international impact of comparative education infrastructures.
