内容説明
In this volume, clinicians and basic scientists discuss concepts of brain function and behavioural biology in relation to major problems in psychopathology, including psychosis, affective disorders, personality development, personality disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. The contributors shed light on brain systems that mediate symptoms and behaviours encountered in daily practice and present important models of how experience can shape brain systems during development. Special attention is given to new findings on the powerful influence of subcortical brain centers such as the basal ganglia on functions previously thought to be purely cortical in nature. Also included are examples of the clinical applications of brain imaging methods in psychosis, affective disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders.
