内容説明
The optico-acoustical effect, in which optical radiation is converted into acoustical waves, was observed as early as the 19th century. The advent of lasers has opened up new possibilites for the utilization of this long-known phenomenon; laser sound sources cover a wide frequency range, can be controlled remotely, provide extremely high acoustic pressures and are easy to move at an almost arbitrary velocity in any medium, including solids. Dealing with the physical aspects of laser methods used for sound generation in condensed media, this book considers static and moving laser sources of monochromatic and pulsed sound in detail and discusses major applications of the optico-acoustical effect, including fibre acoustical sensors. The text is intended for physicists working on acoustics, those in applied optics, physical and engineering acoustics and photo-acoustical spectroscopy.
