内容説明
This book critically reviews the present status of the evidence for multiple serotonin (5-HT) receptors in the brain and the prospects for the development of new drugs for the treatment of psychiatric disease based on an understanding of these receptor sub-types. The book does not cover in detail the clinical evidence of efficacy of existing compounds but rather future prospects for new drugs founded on basic studies in animals and man. The contributions are from leading scientists working in the area of serotonin research who are able to provide an unbiased and critical assessment of our present state of knowledge by means of concise and well referenced chapters. The book is directed towards research workers wishing to obtain either an introduction into central serotonin receptor research and their potential clinical importance or a critical evaluation of the current position.
