The author raises questions relating to the self-image of Britain as a tolerant country and explains hostile attitudes that sometimes surface. The author has also written "Immigrants and Minorities in British Society", "Anti-Semitism in British Society 1876-1939", and "Immigration and British Society 1871-1971". He is also joint-editor of the journal, "Immigrants and Minorities".
