This comprehensive and user-friendly reference is a practical aid to the clinical and radiological diagnosis of one of the major subtypes of stroke - small deep brain infarcts (lacunes) caused by disease of small cerebral arteries. The book will enable the reader to determine the site of such an infarct on the basis of clinical findings, correlate lesions seen on imaging scans with clinical data, and identify the cause of the underlying arterial disease. Coverage includes complete information on the anatomy and pathology of small cerebral arteries, the CT and MRI appearances of infarcts, and the clinical syndromes caused by lacunar infarcts at various sites.
