内容説明
This is a brief introduction to the economy of one of the EC's lesser known contries. Having endured a major political and economic change in the last 20 years - the overthrow of the long-standing dictatorship, and integration into the EC with all the modernization of its economy the move entailed - Portugal now looks set to compete with its European rivals on equal terms. Placing Portugal's development within the context of the EC and Southern Europe, this book details Portuguese economic development and explores a number of interrelated themes: the legacy of dictatorship; the impact of the 1974 revolution; the economic crisis of the 1970s and 1980s; and the economic boom following EC accession in 1986. David Corkhill has also written "Ecuador: Fragile Democracy".
