Description and Table of Contents

Description

This second edition of Hawthorn's glossary of contemparary literary theory has grown by over 50 pages, carries 50 entirely new terms, revises many of the previous entries (sometimes very substantially), and includes both an expanded bibliography and detailed recommendations for further reading. The cross-referencing is extensive, allowing a good appreciation of the context of particular terms; and bibliographic guidance enables the reader to trace their origin and development. The entries also relate terms to recent debates and show how they can be used in the criticism of texts.
