内容説明

An anthology of modernist poetry celebrating 33 years of the poetry magazine "Agenda". The magazine was established in 1959 by the young William Cookson in response to a suggestion from his mentor, Ezra Pound. Cookson combines a commitment to contemporary work with special issues reappraising the crucial figures in his Modernist foundation: Pound, MacDiarmid, David Jones. The book also looks at the classics, and the Moderns in languages other than English - notably Cocteau, Mandelstam and Ungaretti. Among the distinguished poets of recent times, the book includes Geoffrey Hill, Donald Davie, C.H. Sisson, Seamus Heaney and Tom Scott. This anthology is divided into: antecedents, contemporary poetry, criticism, memoirs, and the polemics.
