Features new to this edition include: a separate and enlarged chapter on biopsies of the transplanted liver, now of even greater significance than when last edition appeared; rewritten sections on viral hepatitis in the light of new discoveries, especially that of hepatitis C virus plus new information on viruses A, B, C, D, and E; a revised section on nomenclature and pathology of chronic hepatitis; expanded chapter on transmission electron microscopy to include newer techniques of assessing liver specimens - such as scanning electronmicroscopy, immunoelectron microscopy, immunohistochemistry and many more; extensive use of colour histopathology throughout the book (90 colour in all); and extensive references to 1992, 1993 and some for 1994. Primarily written for pathologists, this book aims to provide a clear understanding of the pathogenesis of liver disease but especially to help in the diagnose of particular disease states.
