The first provides a broad-ranging consideration of applications, which have been a vital element in the computer and communications business since the very beginning. Now that technology has become so powerful and flexible, application requirements can dictate what and how a technical system should perform. Great emphasis is therefore placed on ideas for new and useful applications and their quick and efficient realisation. Accordingly, this section is subdivided into: New and Important Applications; Modem Application Design Methods.
