Complements "Current Research in Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Measurement, Volume 1" (Proceedings of the 1990 Bath Conference), and shows that although osteoporosis occurs in a wide range of clinical conditions there is increasing evidence that it can be prevented and treated. This book is based on the proceedings of the Third Bath Conference held 23-26 June 1992, organized by the National Osteoporosis Society UK) and the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases Bath. The papers reflect the rapid growth of techniques including quantitative computed tomography, dual X-ray absorptiometry and ultrasound. Discussion includes the relative merits of screening procedures. The text is intended for clinicians in rheumatology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, geriatrics and endocrinology, and for radiologists, ultrasonographers, nuclear medicine practitioners, biochemists, bioengineers and clinical scientists.
