内容説明

Waste management affects everybody. The approach to this subject adopted by the authors aims to be straightforward, largely avoiding technicalities and scientific terminology, so that their conclusions can be understood at all levels of management. Having considered the extent of the problem of waste and its management worldwide, the major methods of disposal and treatment are reviewed. This leads to an assessment of what may be the real answer, a non-waste technology, with recycling and resource recovery. The crucial role that management can and should play in this context is demonstrated - the entire eco-system should be its concern. This book is aimed not only at those directly involved, such as health and safety officers, environmental protection institutions and associations, but also at technical managers, plant managers, central and local government officers concerned with pollution and members of the public who want a better understanding of the technical and management issues involved in the control of waste.
