内容説明
Recent developments in optical fibres have brought dramatic changes to transmission technology. Focusing on high capacity optical transmission systems, this study highlights the interaction of the transmitted light with fibre chromatic dispersion and nonlinearity. Key issues are discussed, from the fundamentals of digital communications and optical fibre propagation, through to system components, linear and non-linear interaction and techniques for overcoming system constraints. Specific emphasis is placed on high capacity systems at or above 2.5 Gbits, the highest rate at which systems have been installed in networks world-wide. Coverage includes a survey of contemporary and planned transmission systems, a look towards future developments in the field such as multiplexing and networking, and advice on the design and implementation of advanced fibre systems.
