内容説明
This book forms the proceedings of a major international conference in Japan, October 1993. It presents the latest research and practice information on durability, a major concern for building owners and desginers, and for their professional advisors. Throughout the world, the increasing stock of buildings, the pressures on limited resources, and environmental issues, are creating a demand for more effective technical measures to ensure the required level of performance and longer service life in buildings and structures. The driving power to develop these measures continues to be the research into the durability of construction materials and components and the application of that knowledge to improve design, specification and maintenance. Current research into durability is seeking to expand and improve our abilities to meet the challenge of the demand for increased performance and life by developing our understanding of deterioration processes, better measuring techniques and superior materials. This book addresses these issues and provides an opportunity for a critical evaluation and updating on these subjects by research workers from around the world.
This conference continues the series of triennial International Conferences on the Durability of Building Materials and Components and follows these held in Canada (1978), USA (1981), Finland (1984), Singapore (1987) and UK (1990). This book should be of interest to materials scientists, civil and structural engineers, and researchers in the field of construction materials and components.
