内容説明

This book is divided into two parts: research strategies and laboratory protocols. Chapters in the strategies section illustrate how molecular techniques can be introduced into developing research programs. Emphasis is given to discussion of the pros and cons of the approaches. Protocols are grouped into the second section of the book, with careful cross-referencing throughout. Each protocol includes an introduction/rationale, a list of reagents/solutions, itemized steps, and parenthetical notations that clarify or help to avoid difficulties.

目次

  • Systematics, phylogeny and databases: biological databases on the Internet
  • parametric bootstrapping in molecular phylogenetics: applications and performance
  • molecular approaches and the growth of phylogenetic biology
  • population structure and molecular markers: characterization of genetic structure using RAPD-PCR markers: a random primer for the novice and nervous
  • macrospatial genetic structure and speciation in marine Taxa with high dispersal abilities
  • molecular approaches to the study of marine biological invasions
  • PCR-based cloning across large taxonomic distances and polymorphism detection: MHC as a case study
  • classic problems in the evolution of growth and development: strategies for cloning developmental genes using closely related species
  • evolution in variable environments and physiological adaptation.
