内容説明

This text provides the basic framework on how to plan, design, prepare and implement the move of a small or medium-sized library from the project's inception to its completion. Guidance and practical tips are offered on how to arrange a servicable library layout, and how to organize functional relationships around reference sources; electronic sources; catalogue assistance; and staff stations. The book assesses a variety of moving methods, taking into account the different needs of libraries. It proposes a method for assessing collection size in libraries with subjects that expand at different growth rates, and introduces a technique for translating this data into shelf space allocation. A case study shows how to utilize a database management system for moving a journal collection and considers the impact of change upon personnel.
