Hardbound. The 4th International Symposium on Insulin-like Growth Factors (IFGs) in Tokyo was held on the 40th anniversary of the discovery of sulfation factor by Salmon and Daughaday. In these forty years, the name sulfation factor has been renamed twice; in 1972 it was renamed somatomedin and in 1987 to insulin growth-like factors, according to the function and structure. The existence of binding proteins was described in the '70s and since then ten different kinds have been reported.The purpose of this symposium was to again bring researchers throughout the world together to facilitate the exchange of their knowledge and most recent findings. At the symposium, there were thirteen symposia of invited presentations on selected topics, two special lectures and three workshops addressing methodologies critical to research progress.
