A novel about a girl, Milly, who can't cope with her mother's misery and her own anger when her father runs off with another woman. She runs to her grandmother who is a constant source of strength. But her grandmother has a crisis of her own - her memory is fading and she can no longer picture her mother's face. So Milly and her grandmother go on a journey together to try and recapture her childhood memories. This is a page-turning book set in the modern day and the 1930s, with well-drawn characters and moving portrayal of the relationship between the grandmother and granddaughter.
