内容説明

Mitchell/Giurgola Architects LLP established an office for general practice in New York in 1968. Since its founding, the firm has dedicated itself to the creation of a sustainable architecture that seeks to repair dysfunctional buildings and urban settings, set the groundwork for sensible patterns to restructure communities and introduce new and renovated structures which enhance our daily routines.Culled from the last decade, this compilation of projects includes a wide range of commissions across the US and Europe that build upon the firm's founding principles of design.Organised into five sections, Gateways/ Beacons, Unifiers/Healers, Transformations/Transformers, Urban Community/Builders and Context/Place Builders, the common thread between projects is an exploration of the programmatic and experiential potential for social interaction. As the line between public and private domains becomes more blurred, the firm has continued to explore the potential for civic engagement and the role of architecture in defining community.
