    <p>電子スピン共鳴年代測定は，自然放射線によって鉱物中に生成する照射効果の一つである常磁性格子欠陥を定量することによって行われる。鍾乳石の年代測定に始まり，さまざまな鉱物に適用されてきた。その中で石英は，地表に普遍的に存在する鉱物であり，第四紀のさまざまな地表で起きる地球科学的イベントの年代測定に適用できる可能性がある。現在の研究の方向性についてまとめて報告する。</p>
