Abstract
Integrating the data successively obtained during the development of a household snow feeder of 1.0 t/h intake, a large snow feeder for communal use of 26.4 t/h intake was designed, constructed and tested. The snow feeder performed 34.9 t/h for granular snow and 9.8 t/h for lightly compacted snow. Values of snow fraction in the water tank of the feeder were 23.5% for granular snow and 9.2% for lightly compacted snow. Comparing these values with the designed value of 20.0%, the communal snow feeder was concluded to be valid in considering the discrepancy due to the quality of snow. The performance of the feeder should be improved by enlarging the opening and increasing the capacity of water supply and pumping.
